SMS Event Alerts
How we ask for consent, and what we send
This page shows the SMS opt-in exactly as it appears when you register for a tournament. The checkbox below is the live component from our registration form — not a picture of one — so what you read here is word for word what a registrant reads.
SMS Event Alerts
SMS Event Alerts is an account-notification service from Dark Knights Chess LLC. If you opt in, we text you about the events you or your players are registered for: registration confirmations, round pairings, results, and schedule changes. The program is transactional only — we never send marketing or promotional messages.
Opting in is optional. It is never required in order to register for an event, and you can register without it.
The opt-in, as it appears during registration
A sample entry form. Nothing on this page is submitted, stored or sent, and nothing you do here triggers a message.
Consent belongs to a phone number, not to an account. Tick the box, then edit the number above: the tick clears itself. Nobody can be opted in for a number that did not have this checkbox next to it.
Where we ask
That component, with that wording and those links, is the only way to opt in. There is no text-in keyword, no pre-ticked box anywhere on the site, and no other path that grants consent.
- Tournament registration, on every entry that carries a mobile number.
- Checkout, on the “How should we reach you?” contact card.
- The player profile editor, beside the SMS phone field.
Tournament directors registering a walk-up at the desk never see this checkbox. They get a read-only “SMS: on / off” indicator instead — a director cannot consent on somebody else’s behalf, and a number typed at the desk receives nothing unless that number opted in here itself.
